like an odd exotic creature
on display inside a zoo. ;;

The boy slowly pushed open the heavy wooden door to one of the many practice rooms that filled the Presley Building, peering around through the dim light of the morning to see if it was already occupied. Finding no one, he opted not to turn on the lights, but only open the blinds a bit more to let in the bright rays of the morning sun. Turning around, Milo found himself face to face with a beautiful black grand piano, lid opened and newly polished so the early morning light made it shine.

Slowly sitting down on the hard wooden bench, Milo placed his hands on his lap and looked around at the small room. White walls surrounded the chamber that held nothing else but a piano, bench, and music stand- and the boy. Letting out a nervous sigh, he stood once again and opened the door, making sure the hallways were empty and that this time was open on the sign up sheet. Satisfied that he could play uninterrupted, Milo returned to his seat and placed his hands on the ivory keys, playing a few chords to warm up.

Closing his eyes he relaxed his neck and shoulders, arms and fingers, legs and feet until he was entirely serene all the way though. Inhaling deeply, Milo began to play one of his favorite songs from one of his favorite musicals- Johanna from Sweeney Todd. Oh, how he longed to play Anthony, the dimwitted yet valiant sailor who saves the day and gets the girl at the end of the grotesque and violent story. The song sent chills through his body as his fingers flowed across the keys and words poured from his lips. "I feel you, Johanna, I feel you. I was half-convinced I'd waken, satisfied enough to dream you, happily I was mistaken, Johanna."

Totally entranced by the spell of the music, Milo forgot that he was in a senior only practice room, and being a sophmore he was bound to get in trouble. He couldn't play the 'I didn't know' card because, well, bluntly put there was a sign on the front of the door that read "SENIORS ONLY." Needless to say Milo didn't care that he wasn't a senior, but he was afraid of being caught. However, the temptation to play the only grand piano in the building apart from the theatre and concert hall, which he was never allowed to touch, was too great for him to control.

"I'll steal you, Johanna, I'll steal you. Do they think that walls can hide you? Even now I'm at your window... I am in the dark beside you, buried sweetly in your yellow hair." Sweet tenor vocals echoed throughout the empty hall, and anyone passing by would be able to hear the boy singing his ballad. The music overwhelmed him and he became so bound to the music that he failed to hear, or see, the door slowly opening and a figure appearing. "I feel you, Johanna. And one day, I'll steal you. 'Til I'm with you then, I'm with you there... sweetly buried in your yellow hair..."

VIVIENNEGAINSBOURG

She needed to practice... desperately. Two arias she had to learn, one in French and the other in Italian. The former was the famous "Ah! Je veux vivre!" of Gounod's 'Romeo et Juliette' and the latter was "Dove sono i bei momenti" of Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro'. Both she was preparing for an upcoming recital, and she needed to work on them again. It had been a while since she'd made a point to do so; she'd been so focused on her art that she hadn't put as much work into her vocal music. True, vocals were more of a natural talent for her and she didn't need to work excessively, but learning these types of arias called for intense practice and she was going to put in the time to attempt to perfect them. Or... well, perfect them as much as she physically could, anyway.

So with that, she'd set off for the Presley Building to find a place to practice. Truthfully, Vivi always used the senior rooms because they had the better pianos - she knew that. Nobody ever came in and yelled at her for it anyway, so why would she get caught this time? Each time she thought that, and each time she became more relaxed with the idea of using a senior practice room. Besides - it wasn't as if professors and others merely wandered around in an attempt to just seek out students that weren't using the proper practice rooms. And other students didn't typically recognize which class the room's occupant was from, so they never knew if they were seniors or actually freshman just using the room. Vivvy found it pointless to try and name them 'Senior Only' rooms when everybody used them. What was the point? Were the classes lower than that really of such less quality or importance that they didn't deserve to use these rooms? That was something that constantly put Viv in a tizzy.

She peered into the little window of each room, occasionally seeing some instrumentalist in the corner. The vocalists she could tell instantly, most had accompaniments and voices floating from behind the door. Pianists were easily identifiable too, so she typically skipped those rooms.

"...happily I was mistaken, Johanna..."

Vivvy knew that voice! She could've squealed with delight upon hearing it, but contained herself to an extent before slowing and silently opening the door and stepping inside. She waited until he finished his song then jumped behind him and wrapped her arms around his upper half in a loving embrace and swayed back and forth whilst holding onto him.

"Miiiiilooooo!" she squealed before bouncing and snuggling her face into the crook of his neck. "It's my Miiiiileyyyy-O!" giggling she then released him and ran around the bench and plopped herself down on his lap, grinning like an idiot, but an adorable one at that.

"How is my wonderful darling adorable Miley-O on this glorious day?"

you and I could be the next rage to
make the crowd roar, make 'em want more. ;;

Milo was the kind of kid that usually sat quietly to himself unless there was someone he knew really well there that he could talk to. Shy, possibly, but not really. Well, actually, one could say that Milo was a shy boy. If he didn't know the person he was speaking to, he would blush, avoid eye contact, giggle slightly, turn his head away, hide behind his hair, and speak softly and very little. But when he was around his friends, especially his good friends, his blue eyes sparkled with excitement, his smile was wide and his laugh was loud and clear. He told jokes, poked fun, and recited intricate stories involving extraordinary encounters with others in his present company. Needless to say, Milo was just your average kid- insecure and fun loving.

Eyes growing wide with surprise, Milo jumped and nearly choked on his breath as he was gripped from behind and rocked back and forth. "Miiiiilooooo!" Well, now he knew who it was. "It's my Miiiiileyyyy-O!" Shaking his head and rolling his eyes, Milo chuckled a bit as his friend plopped herself down on his lap. "Bloody hell, Vivvy!" he laughed, wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug. "You nearly scared the life out of me!"

Upon hearing her next words, Milo released her, thingying his head to the side and looking playfully at Vivienne. "Adorable? Who, me? God, Viv, whats gotten into you today?" He was only joking, of course, and in all actuality he was quite relieved that it was his friend and not a teacher come to throw him out. Vivienne was his best friend here at Barrington, actually, in the whole country. After leaving Ireland to come to the states, Milo didn't know anybody. During a strange turn of events, Milo had for some reason been asigned a dorm room with Vivvy. Being from Ireland, he wasn't used to American customs like seperated dorm rooms for male and female. Long story short, they became best friends and were inseperable from that moment on. "So what about you, love? What are you doing up so early?"

[ooc; okay.. that was a weird post. I didn't know how to end it xp]
